A dependent may travel to the UK with an international student at any time. Spouses and/or unmarried
minor children are considered dependents. The entry of dependents of international students is not
permitted after the age of 18.
One of the following describes a dependent:
 your spouse, civil partner, or spouse
 your partner who is single
 Your minor child, even if they were born in the United Kingdom while you were there.
When you apply, you must submit proof of your relationship, such as:
 a certificate of civil union or marriage for your partner
 an official birth record for your child
Any dependents who are older than 16 may work in the UK full-time. Their ability to perform any type of
work is unrestricted. Each of your partner and child must have a specific sum of money on hand. Along
with the money you need to support yourself, you also need this.
Where you choose to study will determine how much money they require. They had to have done one
of the following:

 London courses cost £845 per month for up to nine months.
 For up to nine months, courses outside of London cost £680 a month.
You must demonstrate that you have enough money to pay for your degree, support yourself, and extra
money for your partner, child, or dependents if you are applying jointly with them (as a family). This
money must be with you (or your spouse or child) for at least 28 days in a row. The conclusion of the 28-
day window must be 31 days or less after the applicant submits their visa application. You must present
documentation from your loan or sponsorship company proving that you have financial sponsorship or a
student loan. You must demonstrate that you have the funds to support your partner or child if your
loan does not cover their support.
